Coalition for Nuclear Disarmament and Peace is organising a 2-day Youth Workshop in New Delhi on ‘Creating a Nuclear Free World’ to sensitize the youth about nuclear issues and actively engage with them to promote global nuclear disarmament and a nuclear-energy free society.

The workshop will be totally interactive and besides presentations by eminent resource persons, it will have film screenings, open discussions and a poster exhibition. Experts on the issue as well as activists involved in anti-nuclear struggles will interact with the participants.

The workshop will be organised in the Hall No. 313 of the Indian Social Institute, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

Date and Time: February 1 and 2, 9.30am to 5.30pm (tea, snacks and lunch will be served to the participants)

11.15-13.00: Introduction to Deterrence (Prof. Achin Vanaik)

14.00-15:30 Some stories of the nuclear age (Kumar Sundaram)
15.30-16.00 TEA
16.00-17.30: The first and second nuclear age: struggling for nuclear disarmament (Prof Achin Vanaik)

Day 2 : February 2 (Nuclear Energy)

9.30-10.00: Introduction by Lalita Ramdas
10.00-10.30: Growing in a nuclear graveyard (Sushil Jha, BBC journalist)
10.30-11.00: TEA
11.00-13.00: Nuclear Energy: problems and alternatives (Praful Bidwai)
13.00-14.00: LUNCH
14.00-15.30: India’s Nuclear Establishment: Promises and Preformance
15.30-16.00: TEA
16.00-17.30: Two deals: Indo-US and Indo-Iran (Prof. Achin Vanaik)

Apart from a participation certificate, the participants would also be encouraged to intern with CNDP and to actively engage on nuclear-related discussions and activism in the future.
